Football Recap: Kell Skates Past Centennial with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kell). They blew past the Centennial Knights, posting a 55-20 victory. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kell's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Moonie Gipson, who rushed for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Gipson also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Longhorns are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Nathan Agyemang also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jowell Combay, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Centennial had strong showings from Aj Hatton, who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, and Junior Howard, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Howard was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 67 yards.

Kell's record is now 7-2. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Kell is set to take on their familiar foe Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 968 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Centennial will challenge rival Blessed Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
