Soccer Game Preview: Midway vs. Triton

The Midway Raiders will head out to take on the Triton Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midway's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Midway is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Clinton on Thursday. The Raiders fell just short of the Dark Horses by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Triton was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to Pine Forest. While losing is never fun, Triton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Pine Forest are ranked 74th).

Midway's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Triton, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Midway suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Triton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
