Softball Recap: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride
If Piedmont was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Hayward on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders fell just short of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Pride recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Miya Fujimoto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hannah Joerger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Edie Elmquist, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Salesian College Preparatory, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5.
