Softball Preview: Salem Tigers vs. Bourbon War Hawks

For the first time this season, Salem will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Bourbon War Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem will be strutting in after a win while Bourbon will be coming in after a loss.

Salem is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Ellington a 15-0 shutout. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Alaina Norris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Norris was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Salem got a massive performance out of Taylor Fulton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Fulton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan DuBois, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bourbon fell victim to West County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 8-0.
