After losing to Bucklin the last time they met, Macksville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Macksville Mustangs came out on top against the Bucklin Red Aces by a score of 73-61 on Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Red Aces are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Macksville was led to victory by Nolan Adams and Diego Esparza. Adams dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Esparza dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Esparza has scored at least a third of Macksville's points. Kendall Grippin was another key player, putting up two points along with seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals.

Macksville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Macksville's record is now 14-4. As for Bucklin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Macksville will host Otis-Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Macksville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests. As for Bucklin, they are taking a road trip to challenge Satanta at 8:00 p.m. on February 21st.
