Basketball Recap: Unicoi County Takes a Loss

Unicoi County was the 58-45 winner over Elizabethton when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Unicoi County Blue Devils took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones.

Despite the loss, Unicoi County still got an impressive performance from Jackson Simmons, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 27 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Simmons has posted since back in November of 2024. Kaden Cutlip was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Unicoi County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Elizabethton, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Unicoi County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sullivan East at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Elizabethton has already played their next contest (against Science Hill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
