Softball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia lost against Santa Fe back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 13-11. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Kimber Long was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Sakiya Merriex was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Columbia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Santa Fe, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Trenton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Columbia's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Santa Fe, they will challenge Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
