Newark Memorial got themselves on the board against Irvington on Friday, but Irvington never followed suit. They blew past the Vikings 7-0. Give the Cougars' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The team relied heavily on Malosi Gaoteote, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brian Covarrubias Jr, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Newark Memorial pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Irvington, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
