Recap: Charleston Math & Science Riptide vs. St. John's Islanders

The Charleston Math & Science Riptide can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past St. John with a 61-56 victory. The win was just what Charleston Math & Science needed coming off of a 60-36 loss in their prior match.

Charleston Math & Science found their leader in underclassman Ben Gilliard, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gilliard has scored all season. Tyler Simmons was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.

The win got Charleston Math & Science back to even at 10-10. As for St. John's, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleston Math & Science will take on Palmetto Scholars Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto Scholars Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for St. John's, they will be playing at home against Baptist Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Baptist Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
