Baseball Game Preview: Big Bear Bears vs. Riverside Prep Silver Knights

For the second straight game, Big Bear will face off against Riverside Prep. The Bears will head out on the road to take on the Silver Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Big Bear has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Big Bear came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Riverside Prep, falling 23-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Silver Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.

For Riverside Prep's part, Josh Lillibridge looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lillibridge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andrew Logsdon was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Riverside Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Bourgeois, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.

Riverside Prep's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Big Bear, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
