Southwest hasn't had much luck against Jay recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Southwest Dragons will head out to face off against the Jay Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southwest is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 26, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 74-38 loss at the hands of McCollum. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 907th, while the Cowboys are ranked 98th).

Despite the loss, Southwest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Genaya Santos went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Santos has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Alaquinez, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Jay unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to McCollum 51-45.
