Softball Game Preview: Sioux Falls Christian Chargers vs. Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies

The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers will challenge the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sioux Falls Christian took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Lennox, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Orioles on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Jada Roskup looked comfortable as she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dehlia Doop-Blanchard, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

Meanwhile, Elk Point-Jefferson hadn't done well against Gayville-Volin recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Huskies put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 17-11 win.

Sioux Falls Christian pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Elk Point-Jefferson, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
