Softball Recap: Bowie Sets Scoring Season-High Against Maud

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowie). They put the hurt on the Maud Cardinals with a sharp 22-7 victory on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alleyah Franco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 6.1 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring five runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Dial, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Callie Allen was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Bowie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .408. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bowie's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Maud, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season.

Maud will challenge McLeod at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bowie will be paying especially close attention to the Cardinals' game: after the Cardinals faces off against the Longhorns, they'll take on Bowie again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
