Soccer Game Preview: Maury vs. Nansemond River

The Maury Commodores will challenge the Nansemond River Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Nansemond River better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Maury's game on Wednesday is any indication, that's when Maury really gets things going. The Commodores never let Churchland get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Maury haven't had any issues with Churchland recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Nansemond River entered their tilt with Lakeland on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Cavaliers. Given Nansemond River's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Lakeland are ranked 261st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nansemond River's win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Maury, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
