Basketball Game Preview: Harrisville Pirates vs. Hermon-DeKalb Central Demons

Harrisville is 10-0 against Hermon-DeKalb Central since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Harrisville Pirates will square off against the Hermon-DeKalb Central Demons at 7:00 p.m. Harrisville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Hermon-DeKalb Central likes a good challenge.

Harrisville is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Hammond Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Harrisville blew Hammond Central out of the water with a 78-26 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Harrisville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Winters, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Winters a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Shepherd, who had 21 points.

Meanwhile, Hermon-DeKalb Central played a tough contest two weeks ago in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Indian River and fell 66-37. The Demons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-9.

Harrisville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Hermon-DeKalb Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Harrisville against Hermon-DeKalb Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-22 win. Will Harrisville repeat their success, or does Hermon-DeKalb Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
