Softball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

UME Preparatory Academy won the last time they faced Newman International Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The EAGLES blew past the Warriors 12-2. The result was nothing new for the EAGLES, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Bethany Gonzales made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Carrizales was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jenevive Fleming was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

UME Preparatory Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Newman International Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. UME Preparatory Academy will head out to take on Newman International Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the EAGLES will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newman International Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge ILTexas Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
