Softball Recap: Fruitdale Wins Going Away Against Choctaw County

Fruitdale won the last time they faced Choctaw County and things went their way on Tuesday too. Fruitdale blew past Choctaw County 19-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Emma Box made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Box was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fruitdale got a massive performance out of Skylar Loper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Loper a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Savage, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Fruitdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.6.

Fruitdale's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Choctaw County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Fruitdale will face off against Southern Choctaw at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fruitdale's pitchers better be ready for this one: Southern Choctaw has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Choctaw County, they will challenge Greensboro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
