Soccer Game Preview: Bath County vs. Auburn

Bath County hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Bath County needed a bit of extra time to put away Bland County. They had just enough and edged out the Bears 2-1. Bath County haven't had any issues with Bland County recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Laci Ryder was the driving force of Bath County's attack as she scored both of Bath County's goals, bringing her season total up to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Auburn's match on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Their defense stepped up to hand Fort Chiswell a 4-0 shutout. Considering Auburn have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Auburn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those eight matchups. As for Bath County, their win bumped their record up to 4-7-2.
