Basketball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. McCutcheon Mavericks

The Munster Mustangs and the McCutcheon Mavericks will face off at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Munster comes in on six and McCutcheon on three.

Munster saw some tournament action on Friday. They ended the year with a bang, routing Twin Lakes 59-36. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Nina Garner, who went 10 of 19 on her way to 21 points. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Igboamaka Odeluga, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Munster was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, McCutcheon wrapped up 2024 with a 53-35 victory over Mt. Vernon.

Munster is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.6 points. As for McCutcheon, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

Munster opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-45 loss to McCutcheon. Can Munster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
