Richmond is a perfect 5-0 against Carrabec since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bobcats will head out to challenge the Cobras at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Richmond has 14 straight victories, Carrabec has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Richmond made easy work of Traip and carried off a 12-1 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brady Alexander made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Alexander was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
In other batting news, Richmond got a massive performance out of Kenny Mecham, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Mecham has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhys Terry, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Richmond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Traip only posted an OBP of .381.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Carrabec's offense. They fell just short of Telstar by a score of 2-0 on Friday.
Carrabec saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Caldwell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Richmond's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Carrabec, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Richmond has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carrabec struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Richmond took their victory against Carrabec when the teams last played on May 2nd by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
