League recap: La Jolla, Madison tied at the top

Western league recap: 3/20/13

First place in the standings of Western is up for grabs this week, as Madison sits tied atop the standings with La Jolla.

Sam Schneider was the top pitcher in the league this week, leading the Vikings. He won one game and struck out eight batters.

The Warhawks' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing ten hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Michael Ratajac, who hit .778 by going 7-for-9.

La Jolla's Brett Volger finished his week with eight hits, the best slugger in the league. On the season, he's hitting .500 and ranks second in the league with ten hits.



Carson Hermosillo was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during Madison's 19-1 win over Lincoln. He went 2-for-2 and scored four runs.

Ian Clarkin threw a shutout as he led the Warhawks to victory over Imperial, 1-0, on Thursday. He struck out 16, allowing one hit.
