Layton is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Wednesday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Farmington Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. Layton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Layton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Ogden, who was ranked second at the time (Layton was ranked 16th). While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Ogden who was credited with the victory last Friday. Ogden got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Layton's four. Layton's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cody Miller and Rudy Jensen scored both of Layton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Farmington fought the good fight in their overtime game against Layton Christian Academy last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty five goals in the game before, Farmington's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Layton suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Layton suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Farmington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Layton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
