Baseball Recap: Southeastern Local Takes a Loss

Southeastern Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to the West Liberty-Salem Tigers. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Southeastern Local got a good showing from Wade Shope, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Shope has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Southeastern Local saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Alderson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That RBI was Alderson's first of the season.

Southeastern Local's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Liberty-Salem, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Southeastern Local wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Tecumseh on the 12th. As for West Liberty-Salem, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-7 win against Northwestern on the 12th.
