Softball Recap: Willcox Cowboys vs. Morenci Wildcats
While Willcox's victory against Morenci wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Willcox had just enough and edged out Morenci 17-16 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 two weeks ago.
Layla Donahue was incredible, going 3-for-6 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Janelle Vandermeulen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Donahue wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Willcox lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
