Recap: Bethany Christian Bruins vs. Argos Dragons

The Bethany Christian Bruins won the last time they faced the Argos Dragons, and things went their way on Thursday too. Bethany Christian skirted past Argos 46-44. Given Bethany Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Argos is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Bethany Christian to victory were Zoe Willems and Mariah Stoltzfus. Willems scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Stoltzfus scored 19 points along with four steals. The contest was Willems' 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee Crume, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Argos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Samantha Redinger. Despite the final result, she scored 31 points along with five rebounds. Redinger scored a full 70.5% of Argos' points, the 14th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Morgyn Barcus was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.

Argos struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bethany Christian pulled down 19 offensive rebounds.

Bethany Christian pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Argos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Bethany Christian will finish 2023 at home by hosting Hamilton at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Argos will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Northwestern at 10:00 a.m. on December 30th.
