Basketball Recap: Mission Heights Prep Takes a Loss

Mission Heights Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes, falling 77-57. While losing is never fun, the Phantoms can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Heroes are ranked 88th).

Jace Harper was nothing short of spectacular for Heritage Academy Gateway: he went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points along with seven steals and five boards. Harper has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Ethan Wright was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Mission Heights Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Mission Heights Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-30 defeat against East Valley Athletes for Christ on the 17th. Heritage Academy Gateway has also already played their next contest (against Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
