Basketball Recap: Mascoutah Takes a Loss

Mascoutah fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Columbia on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since January 22nd.

Defeat or not, Mascoutah got some senior leadership from Isabelle Uptergrove and Avery Boehm. Uptergrove went 5-for-10 to rack up 18 points and five assists, while Boehm dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Uptergrove continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Kilian, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Mascoutah and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Columbia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Mascoutah will take on Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbia, they will square off against Wesclin at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
