Basketball Recap: Michaela Halton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Overland over Arapahoe

Overland lost against Arapahoe back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Overland Trailblazers lost 75-50 to the Arapahoe Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trailblazers have suffered since February 2, 2024.

Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michaela Halton, who went 6 for 14 en route to 15 points along with six boards and three steals. Halton has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. Ilaisaane Davis was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arapahoe only pulled down three offensive boards.

Gianna Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arapahoe, going 14 of 20 to rack up 41 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Johnston, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Overland is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5. As for Arapahoe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Overland has already played their next game, a 46-38 defeat against Eaglecrest on the 31st. As for Arapahoe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-41 loss against Grandview on the 31st.
