Baseball Recap: Los Altos Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Los Altos and Glendora pushed the score to 13-8 the last time they played Glendora, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Conquerors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tartans 2-1. While the Conquerors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Diego Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Los Altos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel Venegas, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Joe Serinana also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory (which was Los Altos' fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Glendora, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Los Altos and Glendora could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Conquerors will face off against South Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (169 vs. 17). Meanwhile, Glendora (ranked 254th) will meet Charter Oak (ranked 101st) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
