Softball Preview: Shenandoah Zeps vs. Beallsville Blue Devils

Shenandoah is on a six-game streak of home losses, Beallsville a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Shenandoah Zeps will take on the Beallsville Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shenandoah will be strutting in after a win while Beallsville will be coming in after a loss.

Shenandoah's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Wednesday, when they got past Frontier's usually-dominant pitching crew. Everything went Shenandoah's way against Frontier as Shenandoah made off with a 10-4 victory.

Heather Merry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Merry was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Harbaugh, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, a run, and a double. Another player making a difference was Brittany Farmer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Beallsville fell victim to Caldwell and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Redskins. The matchup marked the first time this season in which Beallsville was not able to get on the board.

Shenandoah made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-20-1. As for Beallsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
