Baseball Recap: Higbee Triumphs

Higbee's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the New Bloomfield Wildcats, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 15, 2024.

Blake Boggs made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Higbee is 2-1 when Boggs allows two or fewer hits, but 1-5 otherwise. Boggs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Dougherty, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Higbee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. As for New Bloomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Higbee will head out on the road to take on Bosworth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Bloomfield, they will welcome Tipton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
