Football Recap: Cherokee Trail Takes a Loss

Cherokee Trail extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked first).

As for Mountain Vista, their win bumped their record up to 10-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

It was another big night for Ariana Akey, who threw for 153 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of her passes, and also rushed for 57 yards and one TD. What's more, she racked up 170.1 passer rating, the most she's had since back in August of 2024.

Coming up, Cherokee Trail will venture away from home to face off against Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Cougars' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Mountain Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
