Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Mt. Vernon had won 13 straight home games dating back to last season and Cale Maurer did his part to make it 14 on Friday. The Mt. Vernon Rams walked away with a 50-41 victory over the Centralia Orphans thanks in part to Maurer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in January.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Centralia, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-25 victory against Effingham on the 14th. As for Centralia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-50 loss against Breese Central on the 17th.
