Soccer Game Preview: Lassiter vs. Pope

The Lassiter Trojans will head out to take on the Pope Greyhounds at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lassiter comes in on ten and Pope on seven.

Lassiter's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Creekview as Lassiter made off with a 3-0 win. Lassiter might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pope won against Sequoyah on Tuesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. Pope came out on top against Sprayberry by a score of 2-0. Given Pope's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Sprayberry are ranked 193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pope's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Lassiter, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Lassiter couldn't quite get it done against Pope in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can Lassiter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
