Lathrop and Soldotna are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2019, but not for long. The Malemutes will take on the Stars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lathrop is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Palmer 38-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Malemutes.

Meanwhile, Soldotna faced West Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Stars were the clear victors by a 38-14 margin over the Wolf Pack. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won six games by 24 points or more so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Andon Wolverton and Jacob Sherer. Wolverton had a great game and rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Meanwhile, Sherer was balling out in the loss, rushing for 104 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Lathrop's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Soldotna, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Lathrop came up short against Soldotna in their previous matchup back in September, falling 27-14. Can the Malemutes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
