Soccer Game Preview: Enterprise vs. Corning

The Enterprise Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Corning Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Enterprise is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Enterprise is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Foothill on Friday. The Hornets fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that Enterprise have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Corning duked it out with Live Oak on Thursday. The Cardinals' defense stepped up to hand the Lions a 2-0 shutout. Given Corning's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Live Oak are ranked 507th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ramses Figueroa and Osbaldo Flores scored both of Corning's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 26 goals.

The victory made it two in a row for Corning and bumps their season record up to 18-3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Enterprise, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-6.

Enterprise might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Corning when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
