Basketball Recap: Mo Van Tassell Key Part of a Team Effort in Bobcats Win

It was a proper cat-fight when White Pine faced off against Laughlin on Saturday. The White Pine Bobcats walked away with a 57-45 victory over the Laughlin Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-7 back in December of 2024.

White Pine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mo Van Tassell, who went 7 for 10 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Matt Thompson was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Laughlin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Trinidad-Rodriguez, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kobe Phillips, who posted 12 points.

White Pine's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9. As for Laughlin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

White Pine will take on GV Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laughlin has already played their next matchup, a 56-38 win against Sandy Valley on the 21st.
