Basketball Game Preview: Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors vs. South Davidson Wildcats

The Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors will head out to challenge the South Davidson Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Asheboro Hybrid Academy ended up a good deal behind Gospel Light Christian and lost 52-36. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Gospel Light Christian are ranked 174th).

Asheboro Hybrid Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of McKenna Voncannon, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Emily West, who posted 13 points. Voncannon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Meanwhile, South Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Salisbury and fell 65-34. The Wildcats were down 48-28 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

South Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-11.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy was able to grind out a solid win over South Davidson in their previous meeting back in January, winning 35-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Asheboro Hybrid Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
