Basketball Game Preview: Bastrop Rams vs. Lincoln Prep Panthers

Bastrop is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Lincoln Prep is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Bastrop Rams will welcome the Lincoln Prep Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bastrop knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Lincoln Prep likes a good challenge.

While Bastrop didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Beekman Charter 85-40. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 31 points or more this season.

Bastrop had a senior duo take command as Lebron Deal posted 33 points and Antron Mason II put up 28 points. Deal's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Adameyon Moore, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lincoln Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Neville.

Bastrop's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lincoln Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Bastrop came up short against Lincoln Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 58-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lincoln Prep's Joseph Spann, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Now that Bastrop knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
