Basketball Recap: Plainfield Comes Up Short

Plainfield easily dispatched Evansville Memorial on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Plainfield Quakers fell just short of the Greensburg Pirates by a score of 53-51 on Saturday. The Quakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Plainfield still got an impressive performance from Hannah Menser, who went 8 of 13 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellison Stewart, who posted four points along with six boards and five steals.

Plainfield's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Greensburg, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Plainfield will head out to square off against Hamilton Southeastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. As for Greensburg, they will host Brown County at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. The timing is sure in Greensburg's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Brown County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
