Baseball Recap: McCallie Comes Up Short

McCallie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Bearden Bulldogs, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Tornado have suffered since April 18, 2024.

McCallie got a good showing from Andrew Rice, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Rice a new career-low in hits.

On the hitting side, McCallie saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Hartline, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

McCallie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bearden, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Coming up, McCallie will face off against Science Hill at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bearden, they will welcome Loudon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Loudon has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Bearden will no doubt try to take advantage of.
