Preview: New Palestine Dragons vs. Waldron Mohawks

Two dominant players in Allie Blum and Grace Fischer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The New Palestine Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waldron Mohawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in New Palestine's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Waldron has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, New Palestine didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pendleton Heights, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory.

Vivian Miller was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Blum, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Waldron suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 71-30 loss at the hands of Eastern Hancock. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Waldron has scored all season.

Waldron's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackie Corlett, who scored nine points, and Emerson Lindsey who scored eight points.

New Palestine has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Waldron, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: New Palestine have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 35.9% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Waldron, though, as they've only nailed 32.1% of their threes per game this season. Given New Palestine's sizeable advantage in that area, Waldron will need to find a way to close that gap.

Everything came up roses for New Palestine against Waldron in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-39 victory. With New Palestine ahead 41-18 at the half, the match was all but over already.
