Recap: Wayne Blue Devils vs. Wahoo Warriors
The Wayne Blue Devils struggled with assists on Friday (the Wahoo Warriors had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wayne received a tough blow as they fell 46-31 to Wahoo. Wayne has not had much luck with Wahoo recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Wayne's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan McGuire, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elle Powicki, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Leading Wahoo to victory were Teagan Watts and Sidney Smart. Watts scored 15 points, while Smart scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gretchen Seagren, who scored 8 points.
Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Wahoo, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will take on Lakeview at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeview comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Wahoo, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Elkhorn at 7:00 p.m.
