Basketball Recap: South Coffeyville Comes Up Short

South Coffeyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 68-36 defeat at the hands of the Afton Eagles. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Afton found their leader in sophomore Aiden Victor, who went 10 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points and four steals. The contest was Victor's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Barton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and four steals.

South Coffeyville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Afton, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

South Coffeyville will venture away from home to challenge Wesleyan Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Afton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-40 victory against Cave Springs on the 24th.
