Basketball Recap: Booker Scheierman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aurora over Gretna East

Aurora has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gretna East Griffins on Monday.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Booker Scheierman, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Scheierman a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Canon Allen, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Gretna East found their leader in sophomore Drayke Brown, who went 8-for-18 on his way to 22 points. Talan Hovie was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Aurora's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Gretna East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Aurora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gretna East, they have already played their next match, a 65-60 loss against Scottsbluff on the 13th.
