Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is ALA - West Foothills' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against River Valley, ALA - West Foothills was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Holbrook Roadrunners as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won 13 games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ava LaHair made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. LaHair was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, ALA - West Foothills got a massive performance out of Ave Risati, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Risati has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Caines, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

ALA - West Foothills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

ALA - West Foothills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Holbrook, they dropped their record down to 12-16 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, ALA - West Foothills will venture away from home to square off against Bourgade Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Guardians surely won't give up without a fight. Holbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
