Softball Game Preview: Aliso Niguel Wolverines vs. Dana Hills Dolphins

The Aliso Niguel Wolverines will challenge the Dana Hills Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Aliso Niguel is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Capistrano Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered since March 26, 2024.

Aliso Niguel got a good showing from Charlotte Giler, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Giler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Aliso Niguel saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Cowsill, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Ella Haugo was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Dana Hills scored first but ultimately less than Capistrano Valley in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-2. The Dolphins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dana Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Aliso Niguel, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10-1.

Aliso Niguel took their win against Dana Hills in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Dolphins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
