Volleyball Recap: Alexander Central's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

If Alexander Central was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of South Iredell on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Maiden Blue Devils on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

While Alexander Central ultimately came up short, they really made Maiden work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-12.

Reagan Pierce paced Alexander Central's offense, picking up ten kills. Pierce got some help from Makayla Williams and her 20 assists. Pierce was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Alexander Central fell to 6-1. As for Maiden, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Alexander Central will venture away from home to take on North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against St. Stephens on the 28th.
