Volleyball Recap: Austin's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Austin had lost five straight headed into Tuesday's matchup, but Lexi Brede didn't let it get to six. The Packers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Winona Winhawks on Tuesday with plenty of help from Brede, who had 14 digs and four aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21.

Leading Austin to victory were Reagan Harty and Addison Walsh. Harty had ten digs and two aces, while Walsh had 43 digs. Those two aces gave Harty a new career-high. Charlee Cunningham also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Austin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Austin's record now sits at 9-10. As for Winona, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Austin will challenge Owatonna at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winona, they will head out on the road to challenge Wabasha-Kellogg at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
