Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Germantown). Everything went their way against the Neshoba Central Rockets on Friday as they made off with a 49-28 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-14.
A big part of Germantown's victory came down to the chemistry between King White and his top target Ashton Smith. White threw for 184 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes while Smith gained 180 total yards and a touchdown. Smith's longest reception was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Bryce Johnson got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Germantown, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Johnson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaisen Greer, who picked up 87 receiving yards and one score.
